Escala comparativa de ''Ontocetus''oxymycterus, un cachalote fósil recientemente redescrito, ahora Albicetus oxymycterus. Originalmente se creyó que las mandíbulas parciales descubiertas a principio del siglo pasado indicaban un tamaño enorme de más de 10m de longitud sin embargo las estimaciones de tamaño de este nuevo estudio sugieren medidas más modestas, cercanas a los 6m de longitud lo que lo pone en la liga de tamaño de otros cachalotes depredadores como Zygophyseter y Brygmophyseter. Su robusta dentición sugiere que era un depredador ápice en los mares del Mioceno medio.

Comparative scale of ''Ontocetus'' oxymycterus, a fossil sperm whale recently redescribed, now Albicetus oxymycterus. Originally believed that the partial set of mandibles discovered were an indicator of a whale that would have reach over 10m in lenght, however the size estimates that the study provides puts a more modest lenght closet to 6m in the size league of other predatory sperm whales like Zygophyseter and Brygmophyseter. Its robust dentition suggest that was an apex predator of the middle Miocene seas.
